Sketches of Frank Gehry by Sydney Pollack is a documentary about famed architect Frank Gehry, their friendship, and Gehry's work. There are fascinating glimpses into Gehry's design process where design meetings are recorded as well as debriefing sessions with some of the leaders of Gehry's practice.
As with most documentaries of this era, Philip Johnson makes an appearance. Michael Eisner also sits in front of the camera. Both provide commentary on what is like to work with Frank and what his architecture means to society. Visits to Gehry's house and some of his projects provide some depth to the evolution to his design style.
