The Machi Tiny Town is a build-your-own-city toy from Japanese toy maker, Kiko+. The base of the city is made from two, black, magnetic chalkboards where a child can use the provided chalk to lay out their own street system. The buildings, trees, and traffic light are attached to the city base, held in place with small magnets. Next it is time to drive the wooden car through the city - the city that your child has just created!
The wooden pieces are made from beech trees that are harvested responsibly and overseen by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The shapes of the pieces are simple - you can even use the chalk to add your own windows and doors. The metal sheet is attached to an MDF base and can be cleaned of chalk easily so that your budding city planner can start from scratch any time - literally, a tabula-rasa (blank slate).
This set is well designed and simple. It should provide hours of fun.
